History

The Hispanic Public Relations Association (HPRA) established in 1984 by a handful of visionary professionals with a purpose of creating opportunities and empowering Latino PR practitioners through leadership skills, professional development, mentoring and career advancement. Today, HPRA is the country’s largest and premier national network of Latino public relations, marketing and advertising professionals with chapters in Los Angeles and New York with several more in formation. HPRA is a non-profit entity registered with the Internal Revenue Service. Membership is open to anyone who shares our values, vision, and mission. With more than 350 members, HPRA is a resource for communications professionals and for those seeking insights into the Hispanic market by providing educational seminars and workshops focusing on the latest, up-to-date trends, issues and best practices in the field. HPRA also provides networking opportunities throughout the year. As a way to foster Hispanic talent, HPRA provides scholarships to Hispanic students pursuing a career in Public Relations and related communications fields attending accredited four-year universities. In the last 28 years, HPRA-LA has awarded more than $225,000 in scholarships to Hispanic students pursuing a career in communications.
